Goal
The UKB Metadata Expertise Group is a sub-working group of the CMB working group. She deals with the regulations and developments with regard to metadata. The group consists of metadata specialists from UKB libraries and provides solicited and unsolicited advice on collective metadata issues and new developments at the policy level.
Where necessary, the Metadata Expertise Group consults and, where necessary, maintains contacts with other UKB working groups and committees, such as the UKB Special Collections Committee (merging the Manuscripts, Maps and Printed Works Committees) and the Collection Management Working Group. For relevant topics, we liaise with this committee and working groups.

There is a core team of 5 members. Their tasks are:
- Maintaining coherence
- Setting an agenda
- Maintain work plan for the work and its planning
- Feedback to the CMB working group
