UKBsis

Goal

UKBsis is the programme for Scholarly Information Services. UKBsis

  • it focuses on realising sustainable deals with publishers for access to scientific information and open access publishing,
  • it supports negotiation teams and ensures further improvement of contract management,
  • it strengthens national control of negotiations, part of the UNL Open Access Roadmap.

UKBsis provides extra efficiency and bargaining power. In addition, the programme ensures that university Open Access specialists do not have to deal with administrative matters as much, so that they can focus more on supporting researchers. B UKBsis explicitly seeks international cooperation with other consortiums in order to realise the transition to 100% Open Access in a sustainable manner.

Datahub

One result of the programme is the realisation of a data hub containing data from more than 400,000 scientific articles from Dutch institutions published since 2018. To this end, the group collects information from more than 30 different sources about articles, journals, publishers, corresponding authors, institutions, Open Access licences, publication dates, costs and funding. Institutions have access to this data via their own dashboard. Most of the data sources used are open, and they include Crossref, OpenAire, Unpaywall, DOAJ and OpenAPC.
