UKBsis programme successfully completed, results transferred to SURF.
UKBsis, the programme launched by UKB in 2019 to strengthen the effectiveness and efficiency of open access contract negotiations and contract management, has been successfully completed. As of 1 January 2026, its results have been transferred to SURF. On the same date, Arjan Schalken, programme manager of UKBsis, joined SURF as an employee. Together with a new service agreement between UKB and SURF, this ensures continuity. This applies both to advice on open access and negotiations, and to the continued availability of the UKBsis data hub. This data hub contains metadata on publications, journals and publishers from more than 30 sources, including Crossref, OpenAire, Unpaywall, DOAJ, OpenAlex and OpenAPC.
