UKB trots op toekenning Open Science NL-projecten
UKB is pleased that, within the Open Science NL programme Open Science Infrastructure, five projects involving UKB partners have been awarded funding. These grants further strengthen the national open science infrastructure and contribute to making research information more discoverable, accessible, and sustainable.
The projects focus on key building blocks of open science:
- Infrastructures for Diamond Open Access (Erasmus Universiteit)
Works on a strong and future-proof infrastructure for Diamond Open Access publications, free of charge for both authors and readers.
‘The Netherlands University Presses (NUPs) have demonstrated what can be achieved in the field of (diamond) open access publishing through collaboration. In this project, we are expanding the collaboration to include all university libraries, NUPs, SURF, and Open Journals to further secure diamond open access in the Netherlands. This national collaboration in community-driven publishing strengthens the Dutch scientific publishing landscape, with greater bibliodiversity, greater equality and inclusivity, and greater academic and digital autonomy. I am so proud of all my colleagues who work day in, day out, directly and indirectly, to create a more value-driven publishing culture. Thank you all!’
Lucinda Jones, Erasmus University - DURF – Dutch Repository Federation (VU Amsterdam)
Builds a connected network of repositories, making research outputs easier to find and share nationwide.I am very pleased for everyone at the UKB institutions and beyond who is contributing to this project. It underlines what we can achieve together: from sustainable collaboration and governance of a national research portal to better metadata and improved accessibility of full-text publications in repositories, the e-depot and beyond. These are necessary steps towards a resilient and inclusive open science infrastructure for the Netherlands, ensuring that scientific knowledge remains available — for now, for future generations, and even when that knowledge comes under pressure elsewhere.
Maurice Vanderfeesten, VU - UKB Publishing Browser (Wageningen University)
Provides researchers with a tool to make well-informed choices in the open publishing landscape. - BROCCOLI – Dutch hub for open research information (SURF)
Develops a central data warehouse with enriched open metadata, succeeding the UKB Datahub. - Scaling Small in NL (University of Groningen)
Establishes a shared metadata system to improve the visibility and usability of smaller-scale and book publications in particular.
UKB is proud of these results and looks forward to continuing to work with all partners involved to create an open and transparent scientific landscape.
