Accessible education in the spotlight
During the Week of Accessibility (6–12 October), the focus this year is on accessible education. Students with disabilities should also be able to develop their information skills. Unfortunately, digital learning materials are often still not fully usable for everyone.
WUR Library makes e-learning more accessible
The WUR Library has improved its information literacy e-learning modules to ensure that students with disabilities can use them effectively. Improvements include:
-
transcripts for videos,
-
alternative text for images,
-
options for different contrast levels and colour schemes,
-
a screen reader-friendly reading order.
These updates were made as part of the Boost your collection project by NPuls.

Why is this important?
More than 2 million people in the Netherlands live with a disability. For them, digital accessibility is essential. Moreover, under the Digital Government Act (2023), educational institutions are required to make their digital services accessible to all.
